Laura McEwen
Laura has been designing for the stage for more than twenty years. Her work has toured nationally and internationally and she has worked for a large range of companies including The Royal Shakespeare Company, English National Opera, York Theatre Royal, Northampton Theatre Royal, Nottingham Playhouse and Unicorn Theatre London.
She has a specific interest in designing work for younger audiences and has designed regularly for Polka Children's Theatre in London. She also spent four years designing the interior and public spaces for the reopening of Polka Theatre in 2021 working alongside architects Foster Wilson Size.
Laura has had her designs for the stage exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and her work as an artist exhibited at the Royal Academy, London.
Working in theatre has bought together a love of many different artistic disciplines infusing drawing, sculpture, painting and costume as well as her interest in human relationships with spaces and live performance.
Laura is an associate artist of Red Earth Theatre and is also one half of We Wonder Design alongside her husband Dominic.
