Two European artists, Martina Glastonbury and Joanna Napiorkowska, channel their deep inner musings into their soulful work, while in starkly different styles.
Martina Glastonbury, born in Stockholm, paints deeply psychological landscapes inspired by places she's called home: Dartmoor, Gower, and her native Sweden. Her choice of colours is intensely personal, and her life models and abstract creations give a sense of aliveness.
Joanna Napiorkowska, based in Warsaw, turns introspection into art through self-portraits. With a background in psychology, her multi-faceted work across drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography delves into the essence of the human face, both its universality and uniqueness.
Both artists view painting as more than mere depiction; it's an exploration of their deepest emotions and inner selves. While their methods differ, they share a common pursuit of self-awareness. Their art becomes a medium to convey and decipher their feelings, histories, memories and roles in the vast world around them. They invite viewers into their personal odysseys of self-discovery and identity formation.
